Could the BMW i8 Be the Official Stormtroopers’ Car?

The BMW i8 is a great deal of things. It’s a sports car, a plug-in hybrid, an EV, a FWD car, an AWD car and so on but could it also be the official car of the famous Stormtroopers? Since we’re discussing imaginary characters here, let’s go even further and find out how it would deal with the Star Wars universe.
The i8 has a hybrid configuration, made up of an electric motor up front that powers the front axle (that’s why when it’s on pure EV mode, the car is basically front-wheel drive) and a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged internal combustion plant for the rear axle.

Since some planets visited by either the Empire or the Republic forces could be really low on oxygen that is needed for the internal combustion engine, the i8 could actually be still going, thanks to its electric motor under the bonnet.

Sure, it would be reduced to just 131 HP and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque but hey, it would at least be moving! Not to mention the design and the doors of the thing that will surely make it look as if it’s going at least 10 mph faster than it really is!

Going even further, the materials used on it are basically just a show off from the Germans, the Bavarians showing what new-age technology means and should be in the future.

Leaving all jokes aside, CFRP is becoming more and more important in the quest of reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and BMW admitted that they would like to use the lightweight, high-tensile material on other cars as well but they are limited by the production levels.

In the meantime, while they try and sort out this problem, let’s just enjoy this pic done by Anthony B at the Toronto Comicon earlier this year.
