Many supercars are biting their nails right now, as Subaru and Cosworth are offering us a sneak peak of their upcoming special edition Cosworth Impreza STI CS400, a compact four wheel drive beast, which will literally hit the market in June.
Subaru tells us that the standard Impreza WRX STI’s output of 300 hp (delivered at 6,000 rpm), which catapulted it to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds, will be upgraded to 400 hp (offered at 5,750 rpm), a figure that will blast the car past the 62 mph mark in a supersports car-rivaling 3.7 seconds.
For the times when the speed will have exceeded the driver’s expectations, or it becomes too even for the Impreza’s smart four wheel drive system, the person behind the wheel can rely on the new, beefy braking system. Provided by AP Racing, a company that likes to help Formula 1 and World Rally Championship racecars lose their speed, this uses six piston calipers and 355mm rotors for the front axle.
As you would’ve expected the Impreza WRX STI’s other components, such as the suspension and the exhaust system, will also be replaced with even more performance orientated ones.
The Cosworth STI will also wear bespoke clothes and treat its passengers with a modified interior. The full details of the CS400 will be released closer to the sale kick-off date. If you feel like this is the car for you, then you’ll have to be quicker than a Wild West shooter, as only 75 units of the car will be born. Don’t blink, just buy and drive!
