Coswheel A-One Is a Diminutive, but Fun Urban Electric Scooter

Shenzen-based startup Coswheel launches a Kickstarter campaign to secure funding for their A-One folding electric scooter. The idea is not a new one, but A-One looks like a fun machine with intuitive and easy operation, and a good price to start with.

By far, the main asset of the Coswheel A-One is its diminutive size and 3-second folding/deployment procedure. The smart design allows the A-One to collapse into a very cargo-friendly shape that will fit in almost any trunk and will pass unnoticed in the corner of your office.

Now, A-One is not exactly the machine you'd use to commute from sub-urban areas to your office building. It is rather a last-miles solution for those who have to reach areas where traffic congestions are commonplace.

This scooter is sturdy enough to carry a rider and a backpack, no heavier than 150 kg (331 lb) for up to 45 km (28 miles) on a charge of the 36V 10 Ah battery. Smaller batteries hold 8.8 Ah and will yield a 35 km (22 miles) range.

The recharging times are 4.5 and 5.5 hours, respective to the mentioned capacities, and the batteries will last for a decent 500 cycles. A-One is powered by a 350W wheel hub motor and is said to climb 8-10 degree gradients with ease.

Coswheel A-One tips the scales at 16.5 kg (36.4 lb) and a special handle will allow riders to carry it just like a trolley. Front and Rear LED lights complement a nifty dashboard, while a dedicated app for both iOS and Android will allow the rider's smartphone to interact with the scooter for navigation, ride data, tracking, and more.

The early bird price is a very appealing one: at $729 (€645), the Coswheel A-One is a steal, especially if you have no issues with being seen on such a two-wheeler instead of a shiny red Ducati Panigale.
