Corvette ZR1 Stingray Could Have 700 HP

It was only yesterday when we told you that Cadillac is planning to put a supercharged or turbocharged version of the LT1 engine from the new Vette into the next CTS-V.

The same guys at Motor Trend have followed up their story with another report from inside The General's house, this time about the ZR1.

According to them, the next Z06 will be keeping its 7-liter engine, though that will be pushed closer to 600 horsepower. However, no decision will be made until they wrap up the numbers for the new ZR1 and its supercharged V8, which will also be based on the LT1 V8 used by the C7.

That's just a nice way of saying the ZR1 will also have variable valve timing and maybe even cylinder deactivation. A twin-turbo setup sound a lot sexier, but whichever is chosen, his monster will either have 675 HP or a full, well rounded 700 HP.
