Custom dash projects make the impossible, well, possible, allowing drivers to redesign the interiors of their cars and add all kinds of cool stuff, including tablets that would help them with everything infotainment.
In most of the cases, car owners prefer to take the easy route and just install a third-party aftermarket head unit that would just come with either Android Auto or Apple CarPlay for upgraded infotainment.

Some go for Android units that run the full version of Google’s mobile operating system, so they’re not limited to just a handful of apps built for Android Auto.

And others pick the most complex alternative and decide to build a custom console that would integrate an iPad tablet.

While this is very often the only way to benefit from the full iOS experience behind the wheel, it’s also the one that requires many more skills that simply plugging in a cable.

And what we have here is a quick demo of how you can build an iPad dash for the Corvette Z06 C6, as the mini version of Apple’s tablet has been seamlessly integrated into the console using a custom design.

Needless to say, doing this isn’t easy and takes a lot of time, although probably the hardest part is to actually build the frame that would fit the console. A video with everything in place shows that the iPad mini feels like home in the custom dash, and needless to say, it can also charge whenever the engine is on.

Why an iPad installed in a car is such a good thing when it comes to infotainment? The answer pretty much comes down to the apps that you can run. In addition to the typical navigation and music apps, you can also watch YouTube and play movies (of course, when parked), while also enjoying the increased screen estate that isn’t typically available on standard head units.
