The first rule of lapping the Nurburgring is to show respect - towards the track, the car and, of course, those around you. Well, the driver of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 we're here to showcase clearly came to the Green Hell unprepared for the experience.
During the man's Nordschleife stunt, things went south in the Brunnchen 2 corner. We can see the C7-generation 'Vette, which is fitted with the Performance Package, losing the rear end after the driver appears to get back on the power too brutally.
Such a situation would've required swift countersteering action, but it seems that the one behind the wheel fell below the standards required for those who turn electronic nannies off. Showing the usual untrained driver reaction, the man hit the brakes once the car got truly sideways, which only amplified the rotation.
It didn't take long until the 650 hp Chevrolet went into the guardrail nose-first, with the impact being rather serious - as you'll get to see in the video depicting the crash, the damage on the supercar can't be ignored.
Fortunately, the driver and the passenger, who seems to be his girlfriend, came out of the Chevy right after the crash.
Alas, the two failed to follow common sense track day etiquette, remaining on the track - they simply leaned on the metallic protection element, allowing their smartphone to grab their attention.
It's no secret that a Ring crash can turn into a true disaster when the occupants of the damaged vehicle faile to head for safety in time. In fact, the infamous German track recently delivered an example of such a situation, one that saw the driver of a crashed BMW barely avoiding getting run over by another car.
The two got lucky, managing to walk away from the situation with nothing more than a bruised ego for the driver.
