Anybody who's visited parking lots during the first snowy night of a season knows that watching out for other cars that have gone out of control is one of the first unspoken rules. Apparently, the driver of the supped-up Corvette lapping the Nurburgring in the video below hasn't played in parking lots.
The man's 'Vette understeers at the exit of a bend and ends up on the grass. The guy takes it easy before returning to the asphalt, since the track was more than crowded at the time.
Alas, he seems to take things a bit too easy since he fails to notice a Clio RS that has understeered too and was heading his was. The hot hatch slams into the front end of the C6 Corvette in what looks like a reverse PIT maneuver, tearing the sportscar's front fascia apart.
We can only imagine the speed at which the Clio RS driver attached the initial corner. Despite all the sliding and the Corvette crash, the hatchback returns on the track (perpendicularly this time) despite the driver's desperate efforts to prevent this.
A BMW 3-Series compact barely avoids hitting the same side of the Clio that was involved in the accident with the Chevrolet. In fact, the Clio RS stops about one meter away from the metallic protection barrier on the other side of the track. Speed can be so difficult to kill when you've gained too much of it - oh, what a surprise...
A Nordschleife overcrowded with lap-hungry drivers is not exactly the kind of scenario you want to find yourself in, so you might want to avoid such an early start if you're planning a trip to the 'Ring.

Sometimes, it's best to stay off the track
The crash took place during Karfreitag (Car Friday), some sort of an unofficial season kickoff for the Nurburgring Touristenfahrten (tourist drives). As you can imagine, the thirst accumulated during the cold season is great, so too many driver rush to quench it at the same time.A Nordschleife overcrowded with lap-hungry drivers is not exactly the kind of scenario you want to find yourself in, so you might want to avoid such an early start if you're planning a trip to the 'Ring.
