COPO Camaro Smokes Rubber, Runs 9s

The COPO Camaro is the baddest Camaro ever to be produced by GM, a machine that like nothing more than to bully into giving your gas money, which it then squanders on the track.
This is COPO Camaro #6, belonging to Al Motor, and it was filmed by Hightechcorvette doing what it a bully does best, flexing its muscles and burning its tires. For a car that came “out of a box”, we’d say the running the quarter mile in the 9s at 140 mph isn’t half bad at all.

GM will build 69 COPOs as purpose-made drag racers. These will compete professionally in the NHRA Stock Eliminator and Super Stock racing classes, with availability of three different engines and various racing components setting them apart.

A choice of engines is on offer, either the naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8, 5.3-liter V8 with a 2.9-liter supercharger or a 5.3L V8 with a 4.0-liter supercharger.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
