You know the scenery. When kids finish classes, the road in front of the school gets filled with all sorts of cars but none of them would appeal to the gearhead in you. Most of the time, they’re limited to MPVs and trucks, maybe an SUV here and there. Not this time though.
One lucky was picked up from school in Castle Rock, Colorado, by her uber-cool mom in a brand new BMW i8. That’s right, the extremely sought after car from BMW was used to do daily chores.
We have to admit that the i range does have a car that is more prone to this sort of activities and we mean the i3 here but the i8 will do just fine too, if you ask us.
Compared to its more practical brother, the sportscar does have all-electric capabilities but not to that far extent. While the i3 can do up to 100 miles on electric power alone, the i8 is limited to about 20. However, if you live close enough to the school, we’re guessing your mom can pick you up on electric mode alone. The question is: can she restrain from unleashing the full potential of the car?
That’s because when you press the pedal harder, the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine above the rear axle kicks in and takes the grand total horsepower number up to 362 HP. Considering the weight of the car, it’s basically a rocket.
We can’t help but wonder just how happy and popular that kid must’ve gotten after this event. Our hat also goes off to the spotted that was quick enough to catch some shots of the beautiful Bimmer before it started raining!
