Coolest Ferrari F40 Ever, the 760 hp LM Barchetta One-Off, Returns to the Track

Earlier this week, we talked about the coolest Ferrari Enzo in the world, a modified example that can rival a LaFerrari in terms of power. Now we’re going another step backward, as we’re here to talk about the meanest Ferrari F40 ever, the LM Barchetta.

The Ferrari F40, with its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8, was cool enough on its own, while the LM version upped the ante enough to remain a highly valued exotic nowadays. Well, for those of you who didn’t follow what happened once the LMs were set free into the world, you should know there’s an F40 LM that lost its top, gaining some rather extreme mods to go with the open air experience.

Meet the Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta, or Beurlys - it unofficially borrowed its owner’s name. We are talking about billionaire, car collector and part-time racer Jean Blaton, who used to hit the track under the Jean Beurlys nickname.

This machine was born in 1989 and after some pretty successfully time on the track, it manage to run onto the road, not before going through a modification process that was unimaginable at the time.

Supercar aficionados certainly remember the Gillet Vertigo. Well, this car was modified by Tony Gillet, the guy who designed the Vertigo, with help from Michelotto, the man Ferrari hired for turning the standard F40 into the LM.

In the process of removing the roof, this Fezza gained a roll cage, while its exhaust was redone, exiting before the rear axle - the last part also led a new rear fascia being built.

This is a car that can hardly be described via numbers alone, but still, 229 MPH (369 KM/h) while topless should be enough to convince anybody of just how badass this car is. You might notice there are no Prancing Horse badges on the car though, as Ferrari asked for these to be removed.

We hadn’t heard anything of the F40 LM Barchetta for quite a while, but the footage below shows us the car hitting the track. Statesidesupercars, the crew who captured the footage, claims it was filmed on April 9, 2015, so we're glad to say hello to this old friend again.
