Coming in from the world’s capital of cycling, Copenhagen, we present you the MATE eBike, dubbed as the world’s most affordable foldable electric bike. It was fully funded on Indiegogo recently and, hopefully, it will reach its backers soon.
The MATE was designed with versatility in mind. First of all, the bike is way smaller than your average cycle and then comes the nifty folding system that equips it. One hinge is placed tight on the main frame before the rear wheel, while the second one folds the handlebars down.
But that is not all, as the MATE is an electrically-assisted bicycle as the rear wheel has an electric hub motor that aids it cruise at up to 20 mph (35 km/h) without you even breaking a sweat.
The battery pack lets you go about 55 miles (80 km) between charges and it can also power up your smartphone via an easy-access USB port mounted on the handlebar.
The battery can be easily removed from the frame for charging, or, you can simply plug the bike directly to your convenient power outlet. Within 2 hours of charging using the speed charger you are powered and ready to roll again.
MATE also comes with high quality carbon disc brakes, front and rear disc brakes, and front and rear suspension for a safe and smooth ride. And with versatile all-terrain tires, the ride is always smooth, even over rough cobbled stone streets.
Moreover, the bicycle is fitted with an intelligent 6-speed computer and an LCD backlit display. This waterproof and dust-proof screen shows you the battery level, time and distance of travel.
The bike is offered in four colors (Army Green, Matte Black, Metallic Red or Shiny White) and two power options; a 250W and a 350W.
The Indiegogo campaign ended October 10 and the startup got 4,254% funded, scoring $3,707,840.
