Seriously, we’re sick of how much this subject went back and forth over the Internet in the last seven months. The automaker teased us with the convertible model a thousand times, then rumors about a four-door model being in the works but none of them were to became real as Subaru (who’s in charge with producing the GT 86, BRZ and FR-S) said the car was not conceived to roam around with no roof.
However, Motoring.com.au allegedly contacted one of their Toyota insiders in Japan, who told them that the convertible GT 86 is still in the works and it might come out as soon as the end of this year.

Bollocks... The Toyota GT 86 just received an update and the automaker said nothing about that, so it makes no sense for the convertible version to come this year. Why the automaker could not hold it a bit more and release the update along with the convertible or whatever else there is?

And if this needs a lot of salt, you’ll probably need to go lick a salt mine for the next one: their insider said that a four-door model is in the works too and that the car will be stretched by 510mm and grow 100mm in height.

Moreover, because of its increased size, it will also come with a more powerful powertrain - a revised version of Subaru’s Direct Injection Turbo boxer that will make 220 kW (300 hp).

We’re eager too see all these coming true...
