After its reputation got stained a few months ago by Consumer Reports, the Toyota Camry regained its place in the top safety pick.
Influential magazine Consumer Reports said this October that it would no longer recommend the Camry, Prius v and RAV4 due to their “poor” ratings from last December involving the IIHS small overlap crash tests.

However, the 2014 Camry received safety updates and it was retested this month by IIHS achieving an “acceptable” rating this time. This determined Consumer Reports to reposition the popular sedan back in its top.

IIHS’ small overlapping crash test simulates a collision involving the front corner of the vehicle and another large object. The one-year test managed to demolish a large amount of previous safety ratings.
