Future Systems, a British architecture company began working last week on a museum dedicated to the founder of the Italian car company Ferrari, telegraph.co.uk reported .

After having beaten seven international rivals, Future Systems won the Contract World Award for Ferrari Maserati in 2004. The museum, located in Modena, will feature a curved plane bisected by fins roof inspired by the radiator of a Maserati and it will arc over the house in which the legendary Enzo Ferrari was born in 1898.

It was the modest in scale house that determined the height of the two-storey museum.
The north facing roof glass is to blame for a diffused white light to invade the interior of the building. The rectangular in plan museum will form a basin inside it, finished in white terrazzo.

The museum will show a history of the Italian motor racing legend and car designer by exhibiting vintage Ferraris, Maseratis, car engines and film footage. The building is due to be completed in 2011 and the team behind the project hope it will attract up to 200,000 visitors each year.

Enzo Anselmo “the Commendatore” Ferrari was born on February 20, 1898, in Modena, Italy. He was an Italian race car driver and entrepreneur, founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix motor racing team, and subsequently of the Ferrari car manufacturer. Shortly before his death, in 1988, Ferrari witnessed the launch of Ferrari F40, a car dedicated as a symbol of his achievements. The first car to be named after him was launched in 2003.

The new Enzo Ferrari Museum will come to complete the existing Ferrari Museum at Maranello, that displays 25 automobiles showing the development, technical and stylistic evolution of the Ferrari cars.
