Confirmed: 2009 Nissan GT-R Reaches 60 mph in 3.3s

Ever since Nissan unveiled the 2009 version of its high-performance GT-R model, people started talking about the performance figures of the upgraded edition compared to its predecessor. Although the Japanese automaker did offer some technical specs related to the powertrain the new GT-R incorporates, there was still a major question: how fast can it reach 60 mph?

Taking into account that the 2007 GT-R was capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in no less than 3.5 seconds and considering the horsepower upgrades the 2009 version adds, a better 0-60mph time would pretty much make sense. But even so, nobody actually had accurate figures.

Until today. GTR Blog today wrote that Nissan conducted a new test at the Tochigi plant test track to determine the 0 to 60 mph acceleration of the 2009 GT-R, with the resulting figures unveiling a 3.3 second time. This means the upgraded Nissan is 0.2 seconds faster than its predecessor when comparing the 0-60mph times of the two models.

According to the aforementioned source, the tested GT-R was equipped with a manual transmission but no other details are available at this point.

The 2009 Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine that develops a maximum power of 480 hp at 6400 rpm and 434 lb-ft of torque from 3200 to 5200 rpm. In addition, the car sports Brembo brake calipers rebadged to Nissan and minor fuel economy improvements compared to its predecessor.
