Based on the only crossover-SUV member of the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform family, the GLA 45 AMG will most likely get a production version at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, despite the GLA to arrive on US shores at least ten months from now.

“With the Concept GLA 45 AMG, we are setting a stake firmly in the ground of the strongly growing market segment of compact SUVs. Our customers – a young target group who set great store by styling, dynamism and independence – can now start looking forward to a dynamic high-performance car. The most powerful four-cylinder engine in the world and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system add up to make the Concept GLA 45 AMG a unique proposition.” said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Powered by the same turbocharged four-cylinder found under the hoods of its A 45 and CLA 45 AMG brothers, the GLA 45 AMG will be the fastest car in its segment.

As you know, the M133 is capable of 360 hp (355 bhp) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque, enough to help the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in under 5 seconds.
