A BASF and ding3000 project, the Concept 1865 is a "dandy horse" by looks and a modern tech-laden and futuristic materials vehicle which really takes things many steps forward in this segment.
The Concept 1865 e-velocipede is a carbon fiber machine: light, extremely sturdy and taking full benefits from the constructive opportunities this material offers. It's definitely not the electric bike you might expect to see rolling down your street, but that's the destiny of all such amazing machines.
A 250W hub motor assists the rider as he pedals away and lights up the LED elements embedded in the very frame. The seat also contains the battery pack and the whole unit can be easily take off the bike for recharging as acting as a safety system: who would steal a bike he can't ride?
The seat and tires are made from special, high-tech compounds which smooth out the uneven roads and offer exceptional performance in all condition. Expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (E-TPU) in multiple recipes and variations (grouped in the Elastollan family) is used throughout the bike from tire cores to the profiles, battery insulation and more.
Retro as it may be, the Concept 1865 is an epitome of modern technology and intriguing, enthralling design. Awesome project from both BASF and Ding3000!
