The DBX is Aston’s first foray into the world of SUVs. It is a response to the growing demand on the market for this type of vehicle, something not even the very anti-SUV Ferrari will be able to resist.

Shown at the end of last year, the DBX comes to the market with all the Aston Martin glory behind it, and not only in name. It’s engine, for instance, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, has already seen successful action on the Vantage and DB11.

In this application, it has been tweaked into developing 550 PS and 700 Nm of torque, enough to make it go around the Nordschleife track in an under 8 minutes time.

Needless to say, Aston has a lot of hopes and dreams for the newcomer to the segment. Priced at $189,900 in the U.S. (£158,000 in the UK, €193,500 in Germany), it is highly configurable, and it all starts with the paint.

The Brits have cooked up no less than 30 different colors for the DBX, starting with the unassuming Lunar White and ending with the pretentious Yellow Tang.

Aside from the color choices, there are six wheel options, six colors for the brake calipers, close to 50 color combinations for the interior, and much more to be discovered on the configurator sites. And they’re all important, as the DBX is seen as a possible entry point in to the world of the brand for many new customers.

And who knows, maybe sometime it would also become the next car for the next James Bond.

"DBX is a car that will give many people their first experience of Aston Martin ownership," CEO Andy Palmer said in a statement.

"As such it needed to be true to the core values established in our sports cars, while also providing the lifestyle versatility expected of a luxury SUV. To have produced such a beautiful, hand built, yet technologically advanced car is a proud moment for Aston Martin."
