Colin Kolles to Purchase HRT F1?

A few weeks ago, Colin Kolles wanted to hear nothing of a Formula One return in 2010. Today, the man runs a team in the series – Hispania Racing F1 Team – and is reportedly the first in line to purchase the team.

Initially entered as Campos Meta F1 Team on the FIA list for the 2010 season, the Spanish outfit was nearly bankrupt some 3 weeks before the start of the season. That's when Spanish billionaire Jose Ramon Carabante stepped in and purchased the majority stake in the organization, renaming the team after his Hispania business.

However, according to a recent report from France's Auto Hebdo, it seems that Romanian-born team principal Colin Kolles is flirting with the idea of buying the whole team himself, after which he plans to relocate it in Germany. Of course this is just a rumor, but if the team manages to improve in the series race after race in 2010, it could be offered for sale sooner than some might think.

Before Carabante took control of the team, it was widely rumored in the Spanish media that German group Volkswagen is aiming to purchase the team in 2011, which is the reason why the Spanish businessman did everything in his power to maintain it in the series through the 2010 campaign (and therefore secure the entry for 2011).

Despite not featuring on the team's logos or official designation, Meta Image insisted through the voice of its chief Enrique Rodriguez that they will continue to do everything possible to help the team survive in F1 through 2010.

Right now we are not posing any kind of complaint, about the name or anything else. This is a collaboration, a common cause, and we just want to do the best for the team. Nobody thought we were going to be at the first race, but instead the team is going forwards. So we're not going to do anything other than help,” said Rodriguez in an interview with AS newspaper.
