Colin Braun Set for 5th Rolex 24 at Daytona

Colin Braun has confirmed his presence in the famous Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, scheduled January 24-25 at the Daytona International Speedway. The Roush Fenway Racing driver present himself at the start of the 24 hours race for the 5th consecutive time.

Braun will compete on the No 60 Ford from Michael Shank Racing and will be partnering Mark Patterson, Oswaldo Negri and 2008 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Ryan Hunter-Reay. Both Braun and Hunter-Reay have scored impressive wins in the Prototype divisions so far, at Daytona (2006) and Miller Motorsports Park (2007) respectively.

“I'm excited to be running for Michael Shank Racing. I raced against them a bunch when I was driving for Krohn Racing and AIM Autosport last year and I've seen how strong their preparation is and how quick their cars can be. They've also had really good driver lineups so I'm very excited to be a part of this team for the 24-hour race,” said the 20-year old driver.

“I feel like we have a great shot at winning the race because this is a group of smart, fast drivers. Mike Shank has put a great program together with these Ford motors, and with the experience and speed that this lineup has, hopefully we can make the most of this opportunity, and I am looking forward to starting 2009 off on the right foot there at the 24,” added Braun.

This year's event will get under way 2 weeks from now and will also see Danica Patrick making her second start in the Rolex 24 race. The IndyCar driver will start for Childress-Howard Motorsports, joining Casey Mears, Andy Wallace and Rob Finlay.
