CODA Sedan Available For Rent in 2011

The CODA Sedan electric vehicle will be available for rent next year, as CODA Automotive has signed a contract with Enterprise Rent-A-Car.A fleet of 100 units of the CODA Sedan will be introduced to car rental locations throughout the U.S. in 2011.

"With the mystery surrounding electric vehicles, we think this vehicle will not only meet the needs of many of our customers, but will also help to 'lift the veil' on EVs for many of them and help them better understand the technology and why they might want to own one," said Lee Broughton, director of sustainability for Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates Enterprise Rent-A-Car, along with the Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands. "Supporting alternative transportation options and partnering with companies at the forefront of the electrification movement like CODA Automotive is a key component of our long-term sustainability strategy."

The vehicle uses a 33.8 kWh battery pack with active thermal management that allows it to offer a range of between 90 and 120 miles (145 and 193 km), depending on the season. The car is fitted with a 6.6 kW on-board charger that promises to halve the charging time. The battery reaches a 100 percent charge in around six hours, with a partial charge, that offers a range of 40 miles (64 km), taking under two hours.

In addition to the new partnership, the two companies previously reached an agreement that will see Enterprise offer courtesy cars to CODA customers during service and maintenance periods. The two companies are also studying possibilities to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
