One of the companies which was born to manufacture electric vehicles, Coda, announced this week the pricing for its single model to date, the all-electric sedan, as well as additional information which might prove useful for future owners.
The car will enter the market soon and can be yours for $37,400, including federal tax credits. In some states, however, because of the local tax credits, the price for the model might be even cheaper. Also, Coda says the car will be available through various financing and leasing programs, which will be announced later in the year.
The Coda will bring with it a 3-year/36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper warranty and the same battery warranty as rivals Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt: 8 years/100,000 miles.
CODA Sedan is a five-passenger EV powered by an all-electric drive system. The system includes a 33.8 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack which gives the car a range of 120 miles (193 km). It will be equipped with 6 airbags, satellite-ready AM/FM/XM radio, QuickLink Feeds and Level II charging with 6.6kWh on-board vehicle charger.
The price tag set for the car by Coda may however send it towards the bottom of the sales charts when it comes to electric vehicles. Having little extra to offer when it comes to range or capabilities, the Coda will have to battle mostly the Leaf, an electric vehicle with a pedigree (considering the Nissan badge it wears) and a price to match: $20,780, including the $7,500 federal tax credit and the $4,500 state tax credit (the price is available in the state of Hawaii).
