Minivans aren’t just cars, they’re small universes, in which the owner, together with friends and family, create a new world, with good and bad. However, one man in San Jose, Calif., who bought a used 2008 Chrysler minivan, discovered that the previous owner had forgotten something a bit more important in the car: $500,000... in cocaine.
According to mercurynews.com, Charles Preston, a psychologist in California, had acquired the car, from Thrifty Car Sales fifteen months before he took it to a routine check, where mechanics discovered hefty amounts of cocaine stashed in the door panels, as well as behind the rear wheels.
Preston was troubled when he received the news, and became even more worried when police warned him that the car might have tracking devices attached to it. He reached Thrifty, who agreed to a trade-in, but offered him the current Blue Book value of the can, which is around $4,000 less than the $14,000 original price paid by Preston.
When the story went public, the company decided to solve the matter and now Preston is expecting an exchange for a clean (literally) van.
