Cobra Electronics today unveiled its new 2009 radar lineup, integrating advanced features that could help drivers discover radars and police cameras easier than anytime before. Basically, the new radars are based on a new Cobra database that contains locations of speed and red light cameras which, according to the Chicago-based company, are 100 percent verified. Moreover, some of the cameras were provided straight by transportation and police officials, which does nothing more than confirm the information is really accurate.
“With the 2009 radar line, Cobra has continued to reinvent the radar category,” said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra. “These driver information devices offer the high performance expected of a leader in the radar space, but with features focusing on roadway awareness and safety.”
Cobra integrated several features supposed to improve the accuracy of the alerts, some of them already available on the past models. However, the main function of the upgraded radars is the so-called IntelliScope service that “shows the direction of GPS-based alerts” on the 1- or 1.5-inch OLED display. Getting back to radar database, it is extremely user-friendly, allowing owners to add up to 1,000 new locations regarding speed and red light cameras.
Two of the new radars, the XRS 9960G and the XRS R10G, are fully compatible with GPS locators and integrate a USB port for PC connectivity. This way, the owner can easily download and update the database with the newest information published by Cobra.
And because price is pretty important, Cobra says the new radars will be priced from $59.95 to $339.95, depending on the number of accessories and features.
