Amidst rumors of a name change for the newest stand-alone brand in the Chrysler lineup, Ram announced this week it will be sponsoring the CMT Artists of the Year, the first of what the organizers hope will be a long series of events meant to honor the best acts and performers of country music.
The event is to be hosted by Kevin Costner on December 3 on CMT and CMT.com and will consist of a 90-minute special gala which will pay tribute to artists like Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band.
Ram Trucks will be present in the event by launching a series of custom Ram Trucks spots and will be featured on the CMT Artists of the Year website. The event is a perfect opportunity for Ram to conclude this year's Letters for Lyrics campaign.
“Our hope is that these efforts will inspire Ram Truck owners and CMT viewers to set some of their time aside to volunteer within their communities,” said Fred Diaz, Ram Truck CEO.
“Social responsibility is a founding pillar of the Ram Truck brand. Whether it’s spending time working with a local organization or a community outreach program, the time given is always needed and appreciated.”
The Letters for Lyrics campaign managed to raise, by the end of August, 325,000 letters to be sent to the soldiers fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. The goal of both the truck manufacturer and the singers taking part in the project (Zac Brown Band) was to send to the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan 1 million letters.
