Clint Eastwood Loves His Ford Gran Torino

In fact, he loves it so much that he decided to make a whole movie based on that car. Despite the fact that his latest movie starring Angelina Jolie, “Changeling” is right now tearing up the box office, Clint Eastwood, one of the most prolific actors turned directors, is already hard at work on his next project.

This movie will surely bring a smile on your face if you're a petrolhead. It's called Gran Torino and it's centered around an old Korean War veteran (Eastwood) and his beloved Gran Torino. His car turns out to be one of his most cherished possessions, a reminder of the days he used to work the Ford assembly line.

Old and bitter, Eastwood doesn't have much to hold on to, and when his car gets eyed by a local Detroit gang, he's forced to take matters into his own hands. Still owning his service M1 rifle, he sets out to teach one of the kids who coveted his car a lesson. He ends becoming a role model for the kid, who, ironically, is from a Korean family.

Speaking about the movie, Clint said: “It's got a lot of twists and turns in the story. It also has some good laughs”. That sounds promising, and the fact that it has Eastwood's name on the director's chair, the producer slot and even the musical score, it's sure to be an Oscar contender, like so many of his past movies: Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby or Letters From Iwo Jima.

We're just happy that a good movie with a good cast and a good story features an old American muscle car. It's been a while since we had one of those. No disrespect to the tuned imports, but the “Fast and Furious” franchise was never Oscar-material.

Check out the freshly released poster and keep an eye for the trailer in the coming weeks. No word if there is a chase scene involving the Gran Torino, but we'll keep you posted.
