Clint Eastwood Drives a GMC Typhoon, Schools Jimmy Fallon on Tonight Show

If asked about the kind of car they would expect Clint Eastwood to drive, most enthusiasts would probably do what Jimmy Fallon did while recently welcoming the actor to the Tonight Show, namely expecting the tough senior to drive a muscle car.

Ok, perhaps some motion picture aficionados out there would go nuts and envision Mr. Eastwood behind the wheel of a Gran Torino. Well, everybody would be wrong and that's because, as the actor let is slip on the show, he likes to get behind the wheel of a GMC Typhoon (you can check this out in the images to your right, but note that this is not the actor's actual car).

And this not only shows that, as we mentioned in the title, the famous Western movie figure schooled the comedian behind the desk on cool cars, but also that Mr. Eastwood beat most performance car buyers out there to the downsizing trend.

We'll take the time to remind you the Typhoon was quite prodigious back in the early 90s when it was launched. Two decades ago, most people didn't know how the mix between an SUV and a sportscar looks like, while nowadays everybody seems to be looking for it when entering a showroom.

Sure, 280 hp and 360 lb-ft might not sound like that much of a blast nowadays, but the 5.7s 0-60 sprint time means the high-riding machine is tough enough for its owner.

And while many are scratching their heads, wondering about the implications of the downsizing trend (what? the 2017 Ford GT comes with a twin-turbo V6?), Clint Eastwood has been in the know for quite some time - the Typhoon is animated by a turbocharged 4.3-liter V6.

However, unlike the vast majority of cars you can find in a showroom today (not the GT, of course), the Typhoon delivers an all-analogue driving experience.

We don't want to make the car chat that took place on The Tonight Show seem longer than it was, so we're inviting you to hit the "play" button below and see how things went.

P.S.: We couldn't help but throw in a little spoiler, telling you that Jimmy Fallon did get his revenge.
