The Toyota Sera is one of those cars made only for the Japanese market that managed to be strange enough to raise interest in other countries, reaching even Canada, from where this one is offered.
Its name comes from the French word meaning “will be” (the future tense - “being”) and this happens because of the futuristic design for the 1990s and the fact that the production model was very close to the Toyota AXV-II concept on which is based.
If you look at it from a distance, you couldn’t tell what makes it so futuristic. It looks like a more rounded MR2-based contraption. But come closer and you’ll see what made people in the 1990s get interested in buying one.
The one you see here for sale has been imported from Japan a while ago. Still, it’s totally rust free, the air conditioning and all electrics are said to be functional and it still comes with its original 10-speaker audio system.
It has done only 100,000 km (62,000 miles), which is a piece of cake for any respectable Toyota, and it has a mechanical pass. To boot, there are no signs of damage on the body, the paint still looks fresh and it also comes with a set of new tires.
