Classics, Muscle Cars and Hollywood Stars to Be Offered at December Mecum Auction

Mecum Auctions is most likely one of the most successful auction houses in the industry regarding record bids and unique lots. Its second Austin, Texas collector car auction that will take place on December 11-12 should once again make the headlines, as an estimated 600 vehicles are expected to go under the hammer. Apart from classic muscle cars offered by Dawn and Tony Lehoski, the collection includes vintage Corvettes and some other notable lots.

Consisting of more than 30 cars, the Dawn and Tony Lehoski collection is bringing a variety of high-quality top muscle cars. A four-speed 1970 Dodge Hemi Charger R/T, a 1968 Shelby GT500KR Fastback, and an unrestored 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda will be present as well.

Things go even further than the 60s as there also are several vintage Corvettes and fine 1950s-era Chevrolets included in the private collection. Take the 1946 Chrysler Town & Country convertible that had only one owner, or a 1986 Buick Grand National, which was used in the opening scene of “Fast and Furious 4.” The latter was driven by Vin Diesel himself and was also displayed at Universal Studios for two years.

Why collector cars? Because Mecum Auctions is specialized in these type of lots after doing so for more than 28 years. The auction house prides itself on being the world leader of collector cars, vintage and antique motorcycles, as it claims it’s now offering more than 15,000 vehicles every year, with more than one auction per month.

Sure, you don’t have to be a successful businessman with a soft spot for collectible cars, considering the family-run company is also renowned for putting out quite the show. Sellers and spectators can buy general admission tickets available at the gate for $25 per person, per day, while children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission.

Doors open each day at 8 a.m., with the auction beginning at 10 a.m. Portions of the Mecum Austin Auction will be broadcast live.
