While the standard MHR 1000 is one ravishing two-wheeler, I’ll have to admit I’d take Stile Italiano’s baby for a spin instead.
Back in the day, the Ducati MHR 1000 (Mike Hailwood Replica) was a force to be reckoned with. The beast was put in motion by a bevel gear-driven SOHC L-twin priding itself with two desmodromic valves per cylinder head and a healthy displacement of 973 cc.

This remarkable piece of air-cooled machinery happily generated up to 76 ponies at around 6,700 rpm. On the other hand, the engine was fully capable of achieving as much as 62 pound-feet (84 Nm) of twisting force at 5,800 rpm. A five-speed transmission was tasked with feeding the powerplant’s oomph to the rear hoop by means of a chain final drive. This whole arrangement led to a respectable top speed of 138 mph (222 kph).

Now, to say that Ducati’s machine was ahead of its time would be an understatement. Given its top-shelf characteristics, I’ll bet Stile Italiano’s moto surgeons were delighted when given the opportunity to work their magic on one such bike. Let’s dive in and examine what’s at hand here.

For starters, the team went about treating the MHR 1000’s aging L-twin to an assortment of top-shelf components, such as a bespoke exhaust system manufactured by Virex and a pair of fresh Dell’Orto PHM 40 carbs that wear racing-style velocity stacks. To handle the additional force with ease, the bike’s front suspension received FG950 forks from Ohlins, while the rear end was blessed with a state-of-the-art monoshock hailing from the same catalogue.

Furthermore, the original wheels were discarded to make way for a set of five-spoke TT2 replicas from Marvic. Their rims are hugged by high-performance Michelin rubber that’ll provide ample grip on the tarmac. As to the brakes, they were honored with a comprehensive overhaul using modern Brembo modules.

You will also find an array of Motogadget units handling the electrics, as well as custom clip-ons and rear-mounted footpegs that bring about a tougher riding stance. However, the most notable feature of Stile’s build remains that flawless aluminum monocoque bodywork – a cool display of Italian craftmanship.

Finally, the entire structure was enveloped in a sexy color scheme, incorporating a red base, silver accents, and gold pinstripes. All things considered, this MHR 1000 is a showstopper in the truest sense of the word.
