Classic Car Collection by Ralph Lauren Going to Paris

In the last month of 2010, reporters from Vanity Fair were allowed access into a very unlikely warehouse belonging to fashion house Ralph Lauren. There, the reporters were able to find an exquisite and exclusive collection of classic cars, ranging from a 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic to a McLaren F1.

Whereas the December showcasing of the models was for private eyes only, this time Ralph Lauren plans to bring the exciting cars right under the spotlight. According to Luxist, the fashion designer will be bringing the collection to Paris this spring, to showcase it at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs.

The exhibition, titled The Art of the Automobile: Masterpieces from the Ralph Lauren Collection will be open to the public from April 28 to August 28. It will include the following rare models: 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Scaglietti, 1956/1958 Jaguar XKSS, 1931 Alfa Romeo Monza 8C 2300, 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO or 1938 Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe.

After seeing the models last year, Vanity Fair wrote about them that they are in perfect condition and sometimes beyond perfection, so the feast for the Parisian eyes is insured.

As with any Ralph Lauren show, the cars to be exhibited (with a car and a lot of headaches chosen from the Lauren garages by curator Rodolphe Rapetti) will benefit from their own scenography by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who will resort to the other senses in the human body, through videos and sounds, to enhance the exhibit's experience. On its part, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs will issue a book dedicated to the event.
