Classic British Motoring Prints Available On-Line

It looks like the British automotive world has really gone retro this summer. After the Goodwood organizers announced that they will introduce a the Vintage at Goodwood festival as a premiere, now an UK website is releasing a unique picture library of classic British motoring prints.

Motorgraphs is offering thousands of historic photos, advertisements and other promotional material coming straight from the archives of the country’s motor industry.

These cover over 100 years of the motor industry and motorsport, including areas like racing, rallying, advertising, posters, brochures, manufacturing and social history. The website offers three main categories: the Motor Industry, Motoring and Motor Sport.

Launched with more than 5,000 iconic and rare images - all accessible at the click of a mouse - the scope offered by motorgraphs.com will be growing day by day.At the heart of the Motorgraphs library is the extensive historic photographic archive of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) - in addition to hundreds of evocative motor sporting images from two exceptional private photo archives: the Grand Prix Library and the Spitzley Collection,” stated the press release.

Many of the images have been taken by legendary action shooters such as Geoffrey Goddard, George Monkhouse and Nigel Snowden.

This is a labour of love for all concerned, and has involved sorting through some three million images, selecting and scanning the most iconic ones for the site. We will be adding more on a regular basis, and expanding the categories, while also including photographs from other libraries," said David Weguelin of Motorgraphs
