Classic BMW 3.0 CS Turned into 800 HP Electric Car

While BMW's efforts in the electric car niche are slowly advancing with the yet unsustainable ActiveE Coupe, one specific private project is gathering a lot more attention.

We're talking about Mike Pethel's extremely powerful electric BMW, which is no match for the factory's 1-Series EV in both performance and style. First of all, Mike has 800 hp on hand, but what makes things even better is that all this power is put on the road through the wheels of a classic 1970 BMW 3.0 CS, one of Germany's masterpieces in terms of design.

The outrageous power is provided by a massive 2,400 lithium-ion cells battery producing one megawatt of energy, and the three custom boxes in which everything is placed have taken it's toll on the coupe, making the back seat virtually useless for seating purposes. But that probably doesn't even matter when you're building the fastest green car ever using enough power to run no less than 750 homes. The best part is that the car actually works and it's definitely worth checking out.

"I mean, if I just had a really loud car, it might be exciting to some motor head. But when you have an electric green, clean, quiet car, everybody likes it." said Pethel, according to MarketPlace.org.
