Classic 1977 Dodge D100 Warlock Magically Got Away for a Mere $20k

Someone should make better magic orbs because somehow, this vintage “Midnite Express Truck” vanished from under our radar before even having a chance to make an acquaintance with it properly. Well, at least the 1977 Dodge D100 Warlock got itself a new place to call home, and it did that for the very affordable sum of $20k.

When trying to find some FCA (sorry, we’re still getting used to calling it Stellantis North America) automotive witchcraft, there are just a couple of choices to be had in the truck realm. The first would be the modern Ram 1500 Classic Warlock special edition, and the second would be the original Dodge Warlock that first appeared back in 1976.

Dodge’s D/W (2WD or 4WD, respectively) truck series ran from all the way back in 1960 for a very successful 33-year-long stint. Its third generation came to life in 1972 and lasted through 1980, bringing updated looks and a considerable amount of galvanized steel to make them as durable as possible.

It also featured a raft of special edition models, with highlights being the Li'l Red Express, the Macho Power Wagon, the Adventurer, or the Warlock. This 1977 Dodge D100 was manufactured as part of the latter and also comes with the interesting “Midnite Express” look, meaning it’s actually a mix of the Wralock and the Li’l Red.

These lifestyle trucks were created because in some states, the latter version wasn’t sold due to more stringent emissions regulations – but that didn’t stop the dealers from ordering the Red Express parts and “trick-trucking” the Warlock with them.

This particular unit easily stands out in any crowd thanks to the custom touches, such as the gold wheels, gold interior details, or the gorgeous wood bed risers. Being a 1977 model, the D100 Warlock was also featured from the factory with a 360ci (5.9-liter) V8 engine, air conditioning, power steering, or a rear chrome bumper.

Also sporting a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic, Hooker headers for the chrome-tipped dual exhaust, and coming out of long-term ownership with around 85,000 miles (136,800 km) on the odometer, this truck was clearly a steal for whoever ended up paying the $20k asking price in order to get it home.
