Clarkson, Hammond and May to Rival Chris Evans' Top Gear With ITV Car Show

Talk is cheap and lies are expensive, so here goes: since Top Gear as we know it got the boot, Jeremy Clarkson and his two amigos were rumored to sign a deal for a new show with two favorite broadcasters - ITV in the UK or Netflix in the US. To be frank, there’s nothing cemented about this all-new car show at the present moment, except for an announcement that will be made by Clarkson in the following weeks.

Netflix sounds like a great deal for Clarkson, Hammond and May to continue their motoring show antics, but there’s a lil’ problem with moving across the pond. All three former Top Gear presenters have families and, from our point of view, it will be hard for the three to be away from their SOs and kids some months per year. As such, ITV comes on the scene.

It’s no secret that the boys and Andy Wilman are negotiating with ITV higher-ups, but a newly published report from The Mirror tells us that “the boys believe with the backing of ITV and a prime-time slot they can easily match, and probably beat, their BBC2 viewing figures. The thought of making a show for the BBC’s main rival is very appealing for them.”

The publication’s source added that Jeremy Clarkson is in revenge mode after an unspecified BBC executive made a stupid comparison of Clarkson in the fracas incident with the pedophilia scandal of BBC presenter Jimmy Savile. From our point of view, Jeremy is wise enough to know that a slur isn’t the best reason to sign with ITV, but a Top Gear-rivaling car show airing Sunday evening at 8 pm is an enticing prospect.

You see, there’s a weird tension between Jeremy Clarkson and new Top Gear host Chris Evans after the latter took the reigns of the BBC’s golden goose. Whatever pans out in the end, be sure that Clarkson, Hammond and May will do car reviews on the telly/internet again. An ideal outlook would be for them to sign the show with ITV and distribute the program overseas through an US-based broadcaster like Netflix.

Andy Wilman, the former executive producer of Top Gear who left the show together with the three amigos, declared that “we are still talking to different people... we want to stay together and carry on making a car show.” Therefore, until the imminent announcement from Jeremy Clarkson, do enjoy the following video.
