Who said there’s no life after Top Gear for Clarkson, Hammond and May was wrong. We know for certain that their new car show on Amazon Prime will feature a comparison between the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. What we didn’t know, until now, is that a trio of Reliant Robin 3-wheelers will also make an appearance in the first series of the online retailer’s automotive show.
For our American audience, we must explain that the Reliant Robin is one of the most woeful cars ever to come out of the United Kingdom. The steering of the 3-wheeled contraption is handled by the single front wheel. As expected, this outlandish layout makes the British vehicle prone to falling over on the left or right-hand side every time you take a corner.
Jeremy Clarkson experienced the, ahem, thrill of driving the Reliant Robin multiple times on Top Gear. And every single time the old orangutan got behind the wheel of this comedy car, he came to the conclusion that staying upright is not on the Reliant Robin’s agenda. Seriously, it’s that rubbish at being a car.
And because it’s so rubbish, the three amigos destroyed a handful of Reliant Robins throughout their Top Gear years. One was transformed into a space shuttle; others were used to play a game of car football. But despite its rubbishness, the Reliant Robin somehow managed to become the second most popular fiberglass car in the history of passenger vehicle transportation. And no, we're not joking - this is a fact.
What in the name of all things holy possessed Clarkson, Hammond and May to buy another three of them?
As you can find out from Jeremy Clarkson’s latest tweets, a trio of Reliant Robin 3-wheeled cars was bought as company runabouts. Thankfully, though, the British presenter makes it clear that the new car show “will mostly have more wheels.” And you know what else it’ll have? A bucket load of laugh-out-loud challenges.

Proof we are spending the money on the screen; not on company cars. pic.twitter.com/Xknxjq7f52

Can I just be clear. The reliant robins are our company runabouts. The cars on the show will mostly have more wheels.
