Clarion Updates the Cab Nav Portable Device

After introducing the MAP690TRK CV portable navigation device in late 2009, Clarion announced today a software update designed to enhance route guidance for commercial vehicle, caravan and motorhome drivers. The newly released software incorporates the latest Navteq map, as well as full list of POI (Places of Interest).

Available via SD card, the latest updates can also be downloaded through the dedicated website to a PC and easily transferred to the portable navigation device via USB.

Route calculation on the MAP690 Cab Nav portable unit takes into account bridge height, width and carrying capacity, tunnel height and width, road carrying capacity and water protection and/or hazardous material transportation limitations.

The MAP690TRK accommodates three different vehicle profiles, logging data on height, width, length, weight (actual and max.), weight per axle and trailer inclusion for each.

With the help of the trip assistance tools, drivers can include in the route planning loading and waiting times. A travel time monitor is on a lookout for driving and rest times and alerts the driver when the mandatory stops need to be taken.

Entertainment features on the MAP690TRK include audio streaming (A2DP) via Bluetooth and MP3/WMA playback through a built-in USB music player, a movie viewer, allowing users to download up to 8GB of MP4 video via MMC or SD card, and a digital photo album that allows the user to upload pictures via SD card or the built-in USB port.

The Clarion MAP690TRK has a price tag of RRP £399, with the AC709 active cradle priced at £35. The latest map data - SD691TRK - is also available for purchase separately, priced at RRP £200.
