Nobody likes two-door coups any more, not when you can have an SUV with a sloping roof or a four-door coupe instead. You get most of the cool looks without losing too much practicality. Don't believe us? Just ask Porsche, who sells about twice as many SUVs and saloons than it does sportscars.
As a result of this and the obvious success of their CLS, Mercedes went straight to the four-door coupe when it was time to turn the A-Class platform into something else. The chances of the CLA being anything else are slim to none, which is a real shame.
The really beautiful and powerful cars out there are designed for selfish people, and there's nothing more selfish than not caring how people get into the back seats. Following that logic, this rendering of a CLA 45 AMG two-door is very good.
The interesting things is if that if it was a real coupe, the CLA wound have fewer electric motors, fewer speakers, less carpet and less seat padding in it. It would be a better sportscar.
