You could say that the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG is nothing but a sexier version of the A 45 AMG, but the fact is that its little hatchback brother wouldn't stand a single chance on certain markets, while the “baby CLS” is a hit no matter what.
In Australia, for example, both models are available, but we're pretty sure it's the CLA that would win a desirability poll among Mercedes-Benz customers from down under.

Its sexy lines are one thing, but it's mostly what's under the hood that gets most of the attention, especially when knowing that you can get the CLA with “punier” engines.

In the AMG we are talking about a two-liter four-cylinder that's been turbocharged into oblivion to deliver no less than 360 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque.

Considering that there's a compact platform underneath all that sexiness, the above figures are actually more than respectable even for the country that invented the word “hoon”. This video, coincidentally also filmed by the Aussies form Drive, is proof of that. In case that's not enough, you can also check out Drive's written review of the CLA 45 AMG.
