Since its introduction in the land of the free this September, the Mercedes-Benz CLA has been talked about by Americans from one part of the continent to the other.
Everybody, whether a Mercedes-Benz fan or not, is curious about how the cheapest three-pointed star vehicle currently available in the US stacks up against the competition.
The trouble is that the CLA doesn't have competition, at least not in its true sense, since the recently-launched car has actually established its own niche, just like its bigger brother - the CLS.
Its high-performance AMG variant is probably even more expected in the US, at least by performance-bargain fans. Powered by a turbocharged, two-liter, four-cylinder internally code-named the M133, the CLA 45 AMG develops no less than 360 hp (355 bhp) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque.
Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with launch control and 4Matic all-wheel drive, the CLA 45 AMG can hit naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds. The peeps from Car and Driver even managed a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.2 seconds during their test drive, in which they reviewed the highs and lows of driving the smallest AMG in America.
