Citroen Total to Field 3 Cars in 2011 WRC?

Although this season is yet to bring Dani Sordo an out-of-this-world performance in the World Rally Championship, the Spaniard received some good new from Citroen's team boss Olivier Quesnel. According to the former Junior World Rally Champion, it seems the French team is planning to run three works Citroen rally cars next season.

Sordo is currently in his last year of contract with Citroen Total, and his failure to score an impressive result for the team – he is yet to win a rally on board of a Citroen C4 WRC – along with Citroen Junior's Sebastien Ogier managing some outstanding performances in recent events have led to many critics suggest a Sebastien Loeb – Sebastien Ogier lineup for next season is already a sure bet.

Sordo didn't deny suggestions that Ogier might join Citroen's works team next year, but hinted that this may not lead to him leaving the outfit.

Olivier (Quesnel) says he wants the two Sebastiens (Loeb and Ogier) and me for next year. I hope it's like this, but I don't know what will happen. Of course I want to stay with Citroen, but if they say no, then I will have to look at another team,” said Sordo, ahead of next week's Rally Portugal.

While Sordo is yet to score a single podium in the WRC this season – after 5 rounds – Ogier has already scored two, the last of which happened in a rally (New Zealand) that he had tackled for the first time in career. Only a couple of spins in the last stage of that event deprived him of his first ever win in the WRC, having to settle for 2nd place.

In the overall classification, Ogier has almost double the points than Sordo, being 29 points ahead in 4th place. This is something that Sordo will seek to repair starting the very upcoming Rally Portugal, where the Spaniard feels he has a good shot at aiming for his first win in the series.

I feel well driving in Portugal, I feel it will be better. I will go faster there; it's good grip in Portugal and a good feeling,” added an optimistic Sordo.
