Citroen Survolt to Make UK Debut at the Start Eco Car Spectacular

The French all-electric racing car concept will make its action debut in the UK this weekend at The Mall, the British division of Citroen announced today. Specifically, the Survolt will be sen by the British public in action for the first time in The Prince of Wales’ Start Eco Car Spectacular on September 12.

The Survolt will join other environmentally friendly vehicles piloted by celebrities such as Kevin McCloud, Roger Saul, Ellen MacArthur, Quentin Willson, Gabi Roslin and Dragons’ Den stars Duncan Bannatyne and James Caan.

“The Eco Car Spectacular is one of the events that make up Start London - a 12 day festival held in and around Clarence House, Marlborough House and Lancaster House gardens - which is designed to show people what a sustainable future looks like and how simple steps can achieve this.  Start is the creation of HRH The Prince of Wales, to help people across the UK lead more sustainable lives,” a company statement reads.

The Survolt features a tubular chassis, a flat underside with extractor and full carbon bodywork, as well as a light weight frame. The all electric racing car from Citroen is powered by two electric motors with a combined power of 300 bhp.

This allows the Survolt to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under five seconds and keep going until reaching a top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h).

The concept’s twin 140 kg lithium-ion batteries each boast a 31kw capacity, which allows Survolt to cover 200 km (124 miles).
