Citroen Survolt - Electric Concept for Geneva

The engineers over at Citroen are quite busy these days as the French company is making the last adjustments to a grand display at next week's Geneva Motor Show. Citroen will bring in Switzerland three major projects, the already-presented DS3 Racing, the eagerly-awaited DS High Rider concept - believed to be a preview of the DS4 - plus a brand new electric concept. The last of them will carry the name Survolt, a designation that says quite a lot about the car. Employing an electric powertrain, the Survolt will be Citroen's candidate for the supremacy of the electric sector. Technical details and the way the car is going to look like are still the biggest enigma but Citroen promises the Survolt will change the way people are talking about electric cars. It hinted however that it would further expand the technology used on the Revolte concept revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show last September. The Revolte used a small-capacity conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor and a battery re-charging function. Additionally, it was equipped with several energy saving systems, including a folding roof covered with solar cells powering the electrical systems and thus, cutting the battery use. autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
