Citroen has just released full details and photos of their brand new Cactus concept car ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It previews the future of their C-line of cars, most likely the cheaper C3 we keep hearing about.
This 100% French concept is full of quirks, such as the Airbumps system they developed to protect the car from scratches. The doors, boot and bumper have been rubberized and little pockets of air that stick out, like the pads you get on trainer shoes. These prickly bits give the concept its name and make us wonder just how bad traffic in France is for them to come up with such an idea.
Another typically French idea is the Hybrid Air drivetrain, which is an invention of PSA that combines internal combustion with air compressor tech to create a new type of hybrid system.
The car itself is quite big, measuring 4.21 meters long and 1.75 meters wide. It has high ground clearance of 21 cm, indicating this is a crossover like the Peugeot 2008. Short overhangs with the wheels directly located at each corner and the rugged "Cactus" name hints at the same idea.
