Until the new Aygo comes out, I think you'll agree that the new Citroen C1 is by far the most interesting car from a design point of view. Revealed moments ago, the French model takes inspiration from the C4 Picasso and looks like a competent competitor to the Fiat 500.
The second generation city car is a spectacular design exercise arriving in an otherwise drab and dreary segment. Bold coors set of specific details without making the whole car look like a strawberry tart. Just like its brother, the Peugeot 108, the C1 is 3.46 meters long, 1.62 meters wide and has a 4.8-meter turning circle, a fantastic figure which might be a class best.

But the real part trick on the C1 is the "Airscape" roll-back fabric roof, an optional feature. Speaking of options, you can buy the new C1 with five doors or three, get it with LED daytime running lights and even 15-inch alloy wheels.

Also like the 109, the C1 is really light, weight as little as 840 kilograms (1,851 lbs). Details about the engines offered have bot been revealed, though "best in class for fuel consumption and CO2 emissions" will likely be achieved by a 1.0-liter e-VTi delivering 68 hp or a 1.2-liter PureTech VTi putting out 82 hp.

After more than 760,000 examples were sold worldwide since its launch in 2005, much is expected from this new model. Look for an official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
