Citroen has already won two world championships with the DS3 WRC, thus making it a highly-successful car, yet it’s far too expensive to be feasible for private teams and drivers. Well, now they’ve launched the DS3 RRC (Regional Rally Car), which is based on the WRC machine.
It is eligible for participation in WRC-2, ERC, MERC, as well as pretty much any national rally championship throughout Europe. It is powered by the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine which powers the WRC car, yet it has been slightly altered, with the addition of a new flywheel and a smaller booster flange - its power figure is 275 hp.

In order to keep costs down, the 355 mm water-cooled braking system has been removed, being replaced by 350 mm ventilated disks. It is now available for leasing, and Citroen claims it has very low running costs and is very versatile, so they say it is the perfect step between their lower-spec R3 model and the full WRC-spec car.
