Citroen Festival Details Announced

Citroen has announced that the Citroen Story Festival 2010 will be held at the Zolder race track in Belgium, on April 24-25.

The event will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the SM and GS models, two vehicles that influenced the marque’s history. Citroen expects over 1,000 vehicles to be present at the festival and it plans to create a special birthday party for the two cars.

The beautifully sleek SM combined high performance handling with luxury, quality and comfort. This technologically advanced model distinguished itself from contemporaries by its ability to travel at high speeds over long distances - without the driver or passengers showing signs of fatigue,” stated the press release, offering us an official point of view on the SM.

The GS, named ‘European Car of the Year’ in 1971, was one of the most advanced cars in its class at the time and a leader for comfort and safety. The car’s hydraulic suspension was particularly praised for delivering a smooth ride experience. A major international success, the model sold almost 1.9 million examples worldwide," is how Citroen views the GS model.

The event will include a parade around the Zolder Circuit, which will benefit from the presence of multiple racing Citroen vehicles, such as a 1972 rally version of the DS, the 1973 Bandama Rally SM, a 1993 ZX Rallye Raid and the 2003 Xsara WRC.

In addition to that, Citroen will display its current “Creative Technology” philosophy, showcasing several of its latest developments and will offer enthusiasts the chance to get behind the wheel of its new premium model, the DS3.
