Volkswagen has the Bulli Concept that it want to turn intro a retro styled little bus that the size of slipper, and now Citroen has joined the concept van/bus game with a modern-day iteration of the “Tub” van it first made in the late 1930.

Just as we’re getting ready to go see the new 911 in Frankfurt, the french carmaker dropped a bomb-shaped concept that makes everything else we’re about to see there look dated and boring. The quirky design has a grille from the Survolt, a gullwing door on one side and a cavernous hanger-like hatch on the other. Not a lot is known abut the 2011 Tubik concept at the moment, but there’s a heavy use of purple around the grille, so this smells like a pure electric vehicle to us, at least in concept form.

“With the launch of its Mulicity portal, CITROËN established itself as a facilitator of mobility. Today, continuing its research in this field, it is exploring a new area. Drawing upon its expertise and the best "Creative Technologie", CITROËN has developed Tubik, a high-tech executive shuttle based on one key idea: travel should be fun. Come with us on a shared, intelligent, connected and eco-friendly journey!” the official press release reads.

So it’s supposed to be an executive shuttle... with purple seats and a bed in the back. Only in France! Jokes aside, this is one of the best peaces of design we’ve seen in a long time and is the production version will look anything like this... it might not sell that well, but it will make everyone’s day when they see it go down the road.
