Citroen Electric Vehicles Register Hefty Sales

Citroen announced that it has registered an increasing trend for electric vehicle sales, as it has taken over 800 orders for the Citroen C-ZERO and almost 400 for the Citroen Berlingo First Electric. The vehicles have been chosen by both private and business customers.

The company used the 2010 Paris Auto Show to introduce the Berlingo First Electric “Powered by Venturi", which uses the colors of the French Post Office, La Poste. A fleet of 250 of these vehicles will enter the Office’s services this month. In addition to that, in a few month’s time, Raiffeisen Leasing will take delivery of an initial order of 140 vehicles.

As we said, over 800 units of the Citroen C-ZERO have already been ordered for the first launch month of the 100 percent electric city car. The majority of these are heading to companies in Europe: 400 were ordered by Raiffeisen Leasing in Austria, 53 by Choose EV in Denmark and the rest by other customers is Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and France. The vehicle managed to convince a total of 63 private customers in Norway.

Calls for tender are currently underway with public and private businesses in car-sharing and rental. Citroen signed its most recent contract last Friday, concerning 250 C-ZERO cars for the short-term rental company National/Citer, which thus becomes the first rental company to set up a fleet of this size of full-electric vehicles,” stated the press release.

We’d like to remind you that Mitsubishi announced earlier today that it is debuting the production of three European-destined EV sister models at its Mizushima plant in Japan, with the C-ZERO being one of these cars.
