Citroen DS5 Concept Teaser

On August 30, French manufacturer Citroen will be unveiling an all-new concept car which will be presented to the public at the Paris Auto Show in October. Since Citroen hasn't been very keen on even hinting what model the teaser refers to, we're only left with some speculating to do (Sherlock Holmes we're not, sadly).

Some expect the teaser to be showing the production version of the DS High Rider concept, known as the DS4, a concept which the French have brought to this year's other major automotive event, the Geneva Auto Show. But, since that will not be an all-new concept, as advertised in the teaser video, the speculative thinking we were talking about earlier point us to a new direction.

The fact that the DS3 already exists and the DS4 has been shown in concept form only leaves room for one other DS, the DS5. The DS5 is rumored to be a crossover between a wagon, a van and a medium sedan. It will combine a diesel engine with a hybrid system, similar to the one on the 3008 HYbrid4 from sister company Peugeot.

The concept to be shown in Paris will preview the production version which will show it's face at the Geneva Auto Show next year. Promises coming from Citroen's management state the new DS5 will be something unlike any other Citroen presented so far.

According to Le Pays, the DS5 has got the entire management of the company worked up, with most of them amazed by the “passionate shock” the car will deliver.

So, in our view, this is clearly a teaser for the DS5. We only hope that on August 30 all our expectations will be met. After that, autoevolution will meet the car face-to-bumper in Paris, where we'll send our finest on a company-paid work trip. Stay tuned for live photos.
